Blippar Case Study
Our client, BlipparTM offers the first image-recognition phone app aimed at bringing to life every piece of print or physical branding (newspapers, magazines, products and posters) into exciting, instantaneous digital interactive experiences. Blippar was set up by a team of entrepreneurs and innovators, with the specific intent of building a platform for media and brand owners. Within just a few months of launch the company is already winning awards, press attention and some of the largest brands in the world as clients. Based in Holborn, London Blippar will continue its global expansion throughout 2013.
Blippar were very clear on the concept they required for their premises fit-out. From the outset, they wanted to reflect their modern, fast paced culture with a contemporary, industrial look but also wanted a very minimalist, open plan space.
After a thorough analysis of their existing offices, Cashman Interior Services designed an inspirational, productive and modern environment which took into account the practical limitations of the 3,800 sq ft space.
Our first challenge was to remove the existing suspended ceiling, all redundant fittings and electrics and data, clean and hide the services which were to remain. The air conditioning units and the lighting system were modified to suit the new layout and to give the right effect we sprayed the existing soffit black.
The initial vinyl flooring solution was altered mid-project to an industrial-type concrete base, however the challenge was the existing cable management system which was built into the floor. The solution was to lay 18mm ply over the entire area using plugs and over 11,000 screws and then apply screed and sealant to suit the clients brief - a concrete feel and an industrial appearance.
The next challenge was to construct a bespoke 3m x 9m table as the centre piece of the office to include storage and to conceal the electrics and data cabling, to be built around four existing square columns. The existing cladding around the columns were dismantled and rebuilt so that the columns were exactly the same size and level with each other. The table was installed in sections and fitted together to give a seamless finish.
Cashman Interior Services were also responsible for installing glazed partitioning, solid partitioning and free standing partitions. We adapted the air cooling system to suit the open plan environment, installed new data and electrics to the new table and perimeter edges and achieved the distinct environment the client wanted.
The result is an impressive, modern, open plan, productive working environment which was delivered on time and within budget.
